CHALLENGE!

And now for Alison's Christmas challenge!

Surprise me with something about lotr. Remeber, people, this is christmas. No Frodo/Sam.

(She couldn't post it herself because she doesn't have a livejournal account. So, yeah, I'm posting it for her. *grins*)

CHALLENGE!

Okay, so Maia's Christmas challenge is...

R/S. Mistletoe. Christmas. Can be any age--in Grimmauld Place, when they first admitted they liked each other and they were teens, when they're already together but still at school, whatever. Any age, any point in their relationship. Must be snow.

Oh yeah, EDIT: For those of you whom it is not already painfully obvious what R/S means, it means Remus/Sirius, which therefore means that this will be, of course, a Remus/Sirius fic. *grins*

IMPORTANT:

Okay, I really wanna read all of my Christmas presents on Christmas. The only thing is, though, in order for that to be possible, then all presents should be posted before Christmas. Except...if I want to read them on Christmas, when I'm posting presents for you guys, I'm going to catch a glimpse of stuff, no matter how hard I try.

So what you do is this:

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO POST A GIFT DRABBLE UNLESS

you put it behind an lj-cut. Wanna find out how to do one? Click the "Read more..." thing.

Subject:RULES!
Time:10:59 pm
Current Mood:satisfiedsatisfied
Rules:

1. If it's your birthday, you must post a challenge. Every person must post at least one challenge. So, you see, if it's your birthday, then the challenge you post has to be something you want to read, since you're going to be getting nine or ten stories following those same directions. *grins* Which also means that:

-your challenges CANNOT be too specific. If you write, "Ginny tells Harry that she's pregnant with his baby while they're sitting in front of the fire on a snowy day," then everything you get is going to end up sounding sort of the same. If your challenge is: "Some guy meets girl on train," then you're going to end up getting nine different versions of that same thing, which is sort of cool. Harry Potter fanfiction. Final Fantasy fanfiction (Nishat). Original fiction. Les Mis fanfiction. Artemis Fowl fanfiction. Anything. And you'll meet each person's characters, style, content.

-during the Christmas one, you MUST take each person's challenge and do that. So, basically, during Christmas, each person posts a challenge, and then every person has to do all of them (except your own, of course---well, you can, but you can only give it to yourself ^^;).

-yes, a legitimate challenge is, "Surprise me." Since, in a way, DrabblePresents are sort of like Christmas Lists.

2. No, they don't have to be drabbles. I mean, if you've found a good story and find yourself writing more, by all means, go with it! And if you're a person that just likes writing, then, by all means, write longer pieces. But I'm just saying that all writing must be at least one hundred words. Which is, like, this paragraph.

3. Fanart: Sure! Great! As long as it's not, like, y'know, just a stick figure and a spear. Make it nice. Make it a gift.

4. Just because it's a drabble doesn't mean that they should be sloppily done. These are gifts. Hey, you only have to write one hundred words, make sure they're one hundred good words. This is a good chance to work on your editage skillz. These have all better be friggin' good. (*grins*) Make every word count. Like some people said: "Drabbles are 100 word stories, not 100 words of a story."

5. Yes, you can work together. Only two people can work on one story, though. And if you do, then the limit is 200 words.

6. Original fiction? Fanfiction? Either's great! :D

7. No, Simone, they can't be NC-17, unless you ask the person and they consent. Keep in mind, not everybody wants that. :P

8. Yes, Cheyenne, for your challenge you can put "Cheyenne/Ron." *grins* So everybody will send you a Cheyenne/Ron story. Basically, self-inserts are allowed, but only in challenges: So if you request a story about a dragon, and I end up putting myself in it, that's BAD. But if you requested that I be in it, that's fine. Nobody likes to read about self-insert Mary-Sues. *grins*

REMEMBER: THAT IS THE MINIMUM. I, myself, intend to write an average of a page for each thing, maybe more. And who knows what Miranda Hugo's gonna end up turning out... :P

If you think that one or more of these rules are stupid, or if I've forgotten something, leave a comment.

Okay, so I was on livejournal as usual, looking at lots of writing communities and drabbling groups. And I was reading some of the drabbles, and noticing how a lot of them always added at the end: "Dedicated to [____] because it's [his/her] birthday."

Meh. Not like I haven't seen stories given as birthday presents a million times before.

But then I started to think about it. And I thought, wow, that's really cool, actually...I'd love to do that!

Plus, there was...well, I'd been thinking about gifts ever since Bibi brought it up in Barnes & Noble and I was like OMG GIFTS!!!1111!!! And...well, you know, since I'm flat friggin' broke, the idea of just writing something for gifts appealed to me immensely. (Hee.)

Now, I'm not saying that a drabble can in any way replace a birthday gift. I mean, one hundred words? That's a pretty cheap gift, if you ask me.

But Christmas gifts? I mean, c'mon, you guys know we never give each other Christmas gifts anyway. So we could all sort of give each other little stories if we want for Christmas. And on birthdays...it's just a nice thing, you know, adds a personal touch. (You know, like how I used to write letters from Ron to Cheyenne on Cheyenne's birthday? I still gave her a present, but there was that, too.)

So, y'know, just...food for thought. And if you have a livejournal, then you can cross-post it there and here, so this is just a general DrabblePresent exchange.

...

YAY, GIVING!

*grins*

Edit: Oh, yes, and for the name of the community. Well, they're cheap, and they're presents. So there.

Okay, so I haven't really defined the rules of these drabbles yet. So, I'm just going to check to see how well you guys take this, or if I'm just a complete idiot, and then I'll lay out the rules in the next entry.
